YOUR VOTE MATTERS

Did you know that only about 60% of people who can vote, actually do? Often it’s less. I know
that people get discouraged and feel like it won’t matter. But it does matter! Many of the
programs and services we count on to take care of our families exist because people fought to
create them and keep them running. And it’s our privilege to choose these people. Our vote
helps shape the world we live in and the services that will help our kids have a good life.
Take Action: Vote this Election
Coronavirus health concerns could suppress voter turnout. Voter participation is associated
with better self-reported health and lower unemployment rates and supports our goal to create
healthier communities and improve health equity. That’s why CHC is working with VoteAmerica
to encourage civic participation and help everyone exercise their right to vote.
Register to Vote: Submit the National Voter Registration form in 47 states and DC.
Verify: Check your voter registration using our simple lookup tool,
Absentee vote: Request an absentee ballot to vote-by-mail in all 50 states and DC.
Locate: Find local polling places, early vote centers, ballot drop boxes, and USPS mail
locations.
Election Office Directory: Look up Local Election Office contact and other valuable
information.
Why is voting so important, especially for people with disabilities?
Does your child rely on strong special education services or therapies like speech or
ABA? Do you have (or need) health insurance that covers testing and treatments? Do
you get help from family support centers or vocational programs? If you or someone in
your family has a disability, voting is critical! Voting for the right people can help make
sure you get the right support.
