Alison Sawyer Current is the founder of Isla Animals, a nonprofit organization that sponsors spay and neuter clinics, vaccinations and animal care.  Alison won The Doris Day Animal Kindred Spirit Award, in 2005 for her work with Mexico’s dogs. Over the last 20 years, Isla Animals has rescued more than 12,000 dogs and spayed and neutered more than 20,000.  Alison was born in Toronto, raised her children in Colorado and moved to Mexico to lead a quieter life and continue her 30-year pottery career. All that changed when she saw the desperate condition of the animals.
