Just put it this way, to get your attention. Seriously, as a lead in to Mother's Day, Critical Discourse will discuss what our mothers or other mothers we've known, have meant to us.
With all of our political and philosophical exegesis, we'd not be here if it weren't for our mothers. For many of us, mother represented life, hope, healing and undying love and dedication. When others saw our flaws, our mothers kept the faith, sometimes to a fault, that we were "good boys" (or girls).
The Holy Qur'an tells us to "Reverence the wombs that bore us”. In it also, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) is referred to as the Ummi Prophet.
Indeed, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) reportedly exhorted us to love our mothers, 3 times, before our fathers. He also reported told us that paradise lays at the foot of our mothers.
A blessed woman and title, indeed.
Did you know that only when Alex Haley asked Minister Malcolm X about his mother, did he finally sit down and begin the Autobiography? Something to reflect.
So, let us engage in deep reflection, as we discuss MAMA!
