Critical Discourse – A Conversation with Dr. Alevda King

It is my honor and privilege to introduce to the Critical Discourse audience, none other than a niece of Civil Rights activist Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, .Rev.  Dr. Alveda King.

The daughter of Rev. A.D. King, Martin's brother, Dr. Alveda King brings to the table, the uniqueness of maintaining the tradition of commitment to civil rights and social justice, without compromising a strong and committed socially conservative consciousness and determination.

Black conservatives, more pointedly, black social conservatives, are attacked and marginalized, not only by white liberals, but black liberals as well. Accused of being out of touch with the goals and aspirations of the majority of Black America, they take the bold stand to defend the life of the unborn, and maintain a clear and unwavering stance with regards to God’s Divine gift to humanity, marriage, as solely defined as that carnal, spiritual and generational union between man and woman.

As her time on Critical Discourse, will not be as long as I’d like, we invite you to participate in what should be most lively discussion. 

We’ll talk about her work in the community, her uncle Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and her father, Rev. A.D. King, who many forget, died tragically in 1969, a little more than a year after his brother.

Hopefully, in these trying and prophetic days, we’ll gain an appreciation and reminder of the need for black America to regain its lost, conservative legacy, one of which we were once proud, but have watched in horror, as politics and social constructs have served to erode it, one generation at a time.
