Can you share an explanation of why mental disorders and suicides have increased among Student Veterans and other Adult Learners? Most critical is how teachers at all levels are identifying and addressing violent and aggressive behavior, mood disorders, and suicidal tendencies. The American Psychological Association states that “untreated depression can lead to suicide”.  This is cause for alarm, specifically with Student Veterans who are balancing disability issues, in addition to family, school, and work schedules. Our media places great attention on murder-suicide incidents, for example the recent loss of Senator Creigh Deeds’ son, and so many others because intervention was not available. Unfortunately, minimal attention is given to effective and positive prevention, as well as, intervention. Join Host,         Dr. Danita Applewhite and guests in sharing techniques to identify and overcome depression. Welcome back Special Guests Melinda Vail, Intuitive Therapist and Steve Schiro, Educator and President of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, (AZ Chapter). They will share an update on the success of the nationwide “Out of Darkness Walks” to bring awareness, comfort and assistance to those dealing with this daunting problem.  Listen to the episodes of the Student2Teacher ™ show any day of the week and see our schedule of LIVE shows by visiting the RADIO section at www.whiteappleinstitute.org .
