Do you, or someone you know, experience any shame about your mental/learning disability at school or work?  Unfortunately, the shame and embarrassment about any form of disability can be found in most ethnic groups. However, there is a higher prevalence of stigmas over mental disability in African-American and Latino groups. Host, Dr. Danita Applewhite and special guest Dr. E. Douglass Brown, share a unique insight about the stigma of mental illness and how it relates to depression and addiction. Hear students, teachers, employees, and Veterans discuss how to identify symptoms, overcome shame, and get confidential help. Dr. E. Douglas Brown is a clinical psychologist and author. Veterans join our VET2VET™ segment for news updates and commentary at the end of the show.  To learn more about how you can support our students and Veterans with disabilities in reaching their education and workforce goals visit http://whiteappleinstitute.org -Click Radio and listen to archived shows 24/7.
