How is it that a benevolent God allowed 98% of all species throughout all history to become extinct? When you look at the natural world, you can find all kinds of pain and suffering. From caterpillars becoming fodder for wasp larvae, to antelope hunted as prey for leopards, how do you explain the prevalence of suffering and evil in the natural world if God is good? Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy posits that only human beings are moral agents, and therefore only human beings can perform evil actions. So how does that reconcile with natural law and what do we do about evil? How can evolutionary theory pivot the fall of humanity as revealed in the creation story of Genesis to accommodate for the natural evils or bad states of affairs of humankind or the natural world? Join us this week as Pastor Tony Minear, Ph.D. continues his sermon series, "Evolving..." and examines theodicy and the natural law from a 21st century perspective. Is it possible that it’s time for us to reconsider our concept of God once again?
