Joanne DiMaggio is a graduate of the University of Illinois with a degree in history. She earned her Masters in Transpersonal Studies through Atlantic University in Virginia Beach, Virginia, where her thesis on inspirational writing served as the basis of this book. A freelance writer with a background in marketing and public relations, Joanne worked in the Chicago media market for many years before moving to Charlottesville, Virginia in 1995.
