Kate's War: WWII Historical Novel with Linda Stewart Henley
Linda says. “I learned about my father’s involvement in World War II only upon re-discovering an unpublished memoir after his death,”
During the war Linda's father took a year off from medical school to volunteer as an escort with the Children’s Overseas Reception Board Program. His diary describes the torpedoing of the SS Volendam and its rescue, based on his first-hand experiences. Hundreds of children’s lives were saved. None were lost. Once Henley learned of her dad’s heroics, she set out to craft Kate’s War.
Linda Stewart Henley is an English-born American. She moved to the United States with her family when she was sixteen and is a graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University in New Orleans. Her career in university administration took her to many parts of the country.
