According to blogger and author Jeff Goins, “everyone should write a book.  He lists six reasons:  1. Because it’s hard. . 2.  Because it’ll humble you. .  3. Because it’ll kill your cynicism. It’ll give you a newfound respect for other authors and the work they do. In fact, if everyone became an author, we wouldn’t have professional critics. Just a community of people who cared enough to speak up.  4 Because it’ll teach you about yourself.  5. Because it’s the best way to share an idea or story that matters.  6. Because the book you write is better than the one you dream of writing.   The Black Reality Think Tank would like to add a seventh idea, 7.  It will contribute to promoting the Black experience, celebrating family and community history.  Your children can read your legacy as a primary source rather than learn about you from a secondary source.

The Black Reality Think Tank is proud to present to our listening audience, Ms. Heddy Keith.  Ms. Keith is the founder and president of the Milwaukee Writer’s Circle.  Keith is a certified journal writing instructor and teaches journal writing to veterans with post-traumatic stress disorder as well as memoir writing workshops.  Our conversation focus for this week is on writing that best seller and the therapeutic benefit of telling your life story.  The goal and objective of the Black Reality Think Tank is to understand the past, dissect the present and support implementing a meaningful future.
