The blessing of being a woman is a phenomenon in itself; the beauty, strength, and struggles are all a part of the badge of honor we receive. Postpartum depression  is a mood disorder involving intense psychological depression that typically occurs within one month after giving birth, lasts more than two weeks, and is accompanied by other symptoms (such as social withdrawal, difficulty in bonding with the baby, and feelings of worthlessness or guilt) 

The Black community has a history of emphasizing personal strength and self-sufficiency, which can decrease the chance that Black women seeking assistance when their sadness becomes more than “the baby blues.” There's this expectation on us as women of color that we have to be these superheroes,so strong, that we're not allowed to be vulnerable."
