Recap of “TELL IT LIKE IT IS” series at Film Society of Lincoln Center

This week’s show will highlight some of the most significant issues and themes that became apparent throughout the 2 week Creatively Speaking Film Series at Lincoln Center. We will also hear from audience members and young filmmakers and scholars as to what they feel was the importance of this series.

Co-host for this week’s show is artist/educator and cultural critic, Malika Leigh Whitney.

Malika Leigh Whitney (Co-Hosting) Malika Leigh Whitney, Storytelling, Theater, and Creative Writing--Reverend Whitney is Artistic Director of Pickney Productions, an arts and education consortium. As a performing artist she has appeared extensively on stage, television and in film. Reverend Whitney is a familiar voice to radio listeners as a producer and host for many years on WBAI Radio. An acclaimed author of the book, Bob Marley, Reggae King of the World, she has travelled extensively throughout the Caribbean, Africa, Central and South America. Her commitment as a community activist and advocate is exemplified through work with special needs populations, youth at risk, seniors and notably in support of the displaced Gulf residents impacted by Hurricane Katrina.
