Are some in the black community playing the blame game when in fact we should be blaming ourselves.
Ferguson and Staten Island incidents prove racism. Brown was far from a model citizen. He pilfered cigars from a convenience store and then bullied the proprietor when he tried to stop him. Then, he and a friend walked down the middle of the street, a stupid and dangerous practice. Officer Wilson asked him to use the sidewalk because of the situation, not because Brown was trolling innocently along while being black as the media would have one believe. Instead of complying, Brown escalated the situation by back-talking. I agree the number of shots fired sounds excessive, but a grand jury after reviewing all the evidence found otherwise. Staten Island, There was excessive force, was not a racial thing either as the victim’s own daughter so stated. Why do we want to make every cop-suspect into a racial event? There is a target on every young black man’s back indeed! Maybe if we didn’t commit crimes out of proportion to other people in society, the police wouldn’t view us with such suspicion. Why don’t we own the fact that some of us need to change our behavior in order to gain respect. Racism does exist but so does the lack of respect for our representation in public.
