INKSTER, MI -- Amid scandal stemming from the violent videotaped arrest of Floyd Dent Jan. 28 and criminal charges against Inkster Police Officer William Melendez, Police Chief Vicki Yost resigned without explanation Wednesday.

"It was a normal resignation," City Manager Richard Marsh Jr. said. "There was no reason listed."

Yost, a full-time, temporary employee, making an annual salary in the high $80,000s or low $90,000s according to Marsh, started in August and will not receive any ongoing pension or benefits. Yost told MLive earlier this month she retired early from the Detroit Police Department, where Melendez also previously worked, before accepting the Inkster job.
