Join Rheana Piegols, Michael Handley and our guest Robert Miklos for a full night of progressive politics tonight on Eyes Wide Open! Robert Miklos is a former Democratic member of the Texas House of Representatives, representing District 101 from 2009 to 2011 when Republicans redistricted his residence outside of HD101 in 2011. Robert ran in the 2012 election for his new 107 district, but lost because 107 was specifically gerrymandered to defeat him.
Our topics include: Why do progressives and democrats not vote, particularly for mid-terms? Are they not attract to (or put off by) the Democratic Party's messaging? Is the Democratic Party's issue focus too narrowly targeting "interest group" issues such as abortion, "black lives matter," immigration, LGBT rights, etc. rather than a wide focus which includes all of these issues in A way that unites us? Should the Democratic Party also add progressive-populist income/economic opportunity/equality issues to their platform? Is Bernie Sanders good or bad for attracting more people to vote Democratic in 2016?
