Memories Of Pain - the forgotten survivors

Here we go countdown to Christmas, and the holidays.  Holidays are a time of reflection and remembrance and a time to celebrate the people in our lives.  For many survivors this is a time of year where these memories are only pain.  The pain of those who would not or could not wait for us to heal.  Because of the amount of time it takes to come back from a brain injury people forget and discount us one by one.  Till in many cases no one is left.  And by the time the survivor gets a chance to see any clarity after brain injury their whole life has crumbled into ashes.
As each year passes the memories become harder and more painful.  So overwhelming to one’s soul that the hope for death is our greatest hope.  A hope for peace.  We the survivors are no longer a part of the life we once had.  We never had a chance.  The thoughts that race through our heads, the thoughts of not being worth it to a single person.  And anyone who might be the slightest part of our life have discounted us and gone, mental and hopeless.  Yet here we are trapped inside this vessel that was who we were ignored, disliked and misunderstood.
Like it or not we have been called to a higher purpose whatever that means.  But find that purpose we must because the powers of darkness and negativity are there constantly to remind us of our unworthiness.  Together we can help each other discover our individual purposes that is the glue to the universe.  Yes our loss is tragic and hard, and feels so unfair.  But we were picked by the universe for something greater than ourselves.  And like it or not it is our destiny, a destiny that we can live or fight.
