Our guests tonight will dive into the life and times of the 518th Combat Gun Truck Company, a provisional unit formed in the Iraq war. The U.S. Regulators of the 518th was a hard running, tough gunning unit in the Iraq war that made history with the reputation they gained among the convoys they protected and also earned the fear of the enemy who they consistently engaged and destroyed all over the Iraqi theater of operation from 2004-2005 until the unit was shut down mainly due to its fierce reputation and the inability of one logistical command unit that simply couldn’t understand or embrace the warrior ethos concept that this unit maintains to the day through its unofficial organization of Regulator Veterans of the 518th. Less than 200 Americans can claim the title of US Regulator and to this day we fiercely defend our reputation and tell the truth of the Regulators mission and the exceptional and often unrecognized Gallantry that the members of this unit displayed on a daily basis as we fought our way through areas that very few would tread in order to protect life, military cargo and blaze a path of freedom for the Iraqi people that to this day still exists as they continue to elect leaders and regain a level of peace within their country. The Regulators, gunslingers and soldiers that truly exemplified the spirit of Teddy Roosevelts’ Rough Riders and the Young Guns mentality, won every battle and delivered the goods on time, every time.
