**Special Episode**
My guest tonight is Leslee Williams. She found her inspiration for a new life following 2 strokes and having part of her cerebellum removed. Through the surgery and rehabilitation process, she discovered what life was for a head-injury survivor. As a result, she has dedicated her life to helping others through that same process with her non-profit foundation: There is a Solution, Inc. brain Injury insights.
Along with this foundation, there is a website of useful information about the brain trauma process of recovery and her particular story. She began this organization with volunteering. She was going to the bedsides of brain trauma survivors in hospital s and using the power of talking about being stuck in one’s body, but unable to express it. That led to the results we see now.
She understands the symptoms of brain trauma because she went through the same frustration, depression, loneliness, emotional outbursts, and aloneness as many recovering survivor go through. Her episode began with severe pain leading to months of brain tests, living on a ventilator, searching, research, and rehabilitation.
She describes her symptoms, family issues, current limitations, and hopes. She attributes her success to NCEP - A program that included physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech, counseling, classes on memory strategies, brain ed, activity sessions, yoga, tai chi, meditation, and special massage. And she is here now, helping others get through the same recovery in any way she can.
