SDG 211 The TRUE LORD's Prayer

John 17:1–4

Now the true LORD's prayer is found in John 17 this is the private and personal prayer of the LORD Jesus Christ Himself!  And there's no better way to learn to pray than to study the prayer that Jesus prayed.  Now this is an incredibly deep and profound prayer, but it’s not very long, just one short 26 verse chapter in the word of God.  Do you realize what a privilege this is to get to eavesdrop on the Son of God as He prays to The Father?

See John 17:1-4 KJVS
[1] These words spake Jesus, and lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee:
[2] As thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given Him.
[3] And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent.
[4] I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest Me to do.

Now let's stop right there and make a few observations about the True LORD's prayer and be fully aware that we're just going to skirt the shores the mighty ocean of truth that's contained in this passage.  

But nevertheless be sure to tune in to learn to learn to pray as Jesus prayed.

And we'll look at

1. The person of the prayer: Jesus

2. The period when He prayed: After teaching the apostles.  

And then

3. The purpose of the prayer: That God would be glorified.
