Description: Bail was designed to allow people accused of a crime a chance to get out of jail in hopes that the money provided would guarantee their appearance in court. But not everyone can afford bail and not all bails are reasonable. Does the criminal justice system punish those who cannot afford to pay bail? Does it punish those who are innocent and cannot afford to pay bail? Is there something more sinister at work?
