As an athlete, I’m retired…sadly. I still get out and rip it up here and there, but my focus is coaching. I was an elite amateur and professional triathlete and mountain bike racer. I raced everything in multisport from Ironman to XTERRA to short course to draft-legal Olympic. I’ve been lucky to have had a great sport career so far: I stood on the podium in Kona, have been to the Best of the US Championships, and have been a member of both Team USA and the Air Force Triathlon Team. My first triathlon was in 1992, and I’ve completed over 200 multisport events and won more than 15. I’ve been coaching since 2002.

However, in May 2007, while in the lead pack in a national mountain bike points series race, I took a spill, severely breaking my leg. When I rolled to a stop, my knee was pointing north and my toes pointing south. Even with my limited military medical training I knew this is bad. Many complications and infections (and 27 pins and screws) later, my racing days are over…but this was the catalyst that allowed Grasky Endurance Coaching to be born!
