ARLINGTON -- The Arlington police shooting of Christian Taylor has drawn the attention of community groups planning to attend the Million Man March in Washington D.C. this fall for a milestone anniversary.

A small group met at Althea Temple Church in Fort Worth Thursday morning to talk about its plans for the 20th anniversary commemoration on Oct. 10. The theme is "Justice or Else" and will address issues of poverty, racism and police brutality.

Lee Muhammad, student minister at Muhammad Mosque #52, said the shooting death of 19-year-old Taylor last week by a rookie Arlington police officer has once again put the spotlight on police officers' use of deadly force.

Taylor was captured on surveillance video behaving erratically and damaging property at an Arlington car dealership. Police said Officer Brad Miller confronted and shot the unarmed student athlete. Miller was fired this week, but Muhammad said that is still not enough.

"You have the killer of Trayvon Martin still walking around free," he said. "The killer of Eric Garner is still free. If it was murder, he should be charged with that." more http://www.wfaa.com/story/news/2015/08/13/police-brutality-activism-community-race/31638947/
