Host Freddie Campbell explores the rich diversity of Jamaican music, even as ska took a foothold. Jimmy Cliff, a true legend, is a perfect example of this diversity, and today's show will take the time to explore his talent. Ska Beat is a British label that recorded many of the very early Jamaican artists reaching out for a new career. We can say career today , but back then it was driven by a deep feeling inside, coming from the soul, believing but not knowing, just having faith. Who coined the word "SKA". Many claim ownership, even more claim to know, but one thing is sure, it comes from the unique strum of the guitar, so maybe the guitar owns the copyright on the word, ska.
