Not only in Jamaica, but all the West Indies, the relationship between music and sports is an unbreakable bond. When the West Indies cricket team was flying high during the 60s and 70s, the calypsonians sang about the success of the team and of the stars of the team. In the islands, every young boy playing in the back yard or on the beach would assume the name of his favorite cricket player. Many players of the national team were more recognised that the heads of government, and yet most of them found it difficult to support their families. Host Freddie Campbell will express his feelings about the symbiotic relationship of sports and music and welcomes the opinions of his listeners.
