Hurricane Florence - Thursday Evening Update
Hurricane Florence has been downgraded over the past 24 hours to a cat 2 storm but is still just as dangerous tonight. What is more concerning than the max sustained winds, is the fact that this storm is really slowing down its forward speed. Hurricane Florence is currently a Saffir–Simpson scale Category 2 tropical cyclone nearing the Southeastern United States and the U.S. Mid-Atlantic states. The sixth named storm, third hurricane and the first major hurricane of the 2018 Atlantic hurricane season, Florence originated from a strong tropical wave that emerged off the west coast of Africa on August 30.
