Ska Now and Then- Featuring Female Artist

I recently read an article that said the shortage of female singers in reggae music was due to the lack of female producers. Mrs. Pottinger produced a host of female singers but also produced a lot of male artists and bands. Was the ROI on male artists better than that of female artists?
