On this segment of "Let's Talk Fort Worth" we will look at possible reasons the Atatiana Jefferson trial is being delayed. Many feel justice for Atatiana Jefferson is being delayed simply because the person who will stand trial for her murder is a former FWPD officer. There are many others who feel the delay is due to the fact the defense wants the trial moved to Parker county an area highly populated with police officers or famiy members of those who work in law enforcement. It is highly unlikely that a jury pool full of law enforcement officers or friends and family members of law enforcement officers will convict Aaron Dean.

With Texas being a "stand your ground" state and the fact Atatiana Jefferson was in her own home is there really a defense that can justify her murder. Does this really come down to Dean does not have a defense for why he took her life and feels he will be found guilty in Tarrant county. If that is the case, is it fair to continue to delay the trial or attempt to have the trial moved in search of a jury who will likely not convict him. Would this type of treatment be given to a Black man who was being represented by a public defender. In the cases of Breonna Taylor, Botham Jean, George Floyd, Eric Garner, Laquan McDonald and countless others their trials were not moved out of the county where they occurred so that the officers could find the perfect jury pool. The justice system in Tarrant county has failed to show this community that lady justice is blind. The blindfold represents impartiality, the ideal that justice should be applied without regard to wealth, power, or other status.

Aaron Deans attorneys are suggesting that the present judge in this case has been bias against their client , when actually the bias has been and is being against to the victim.
