Interview with upcoming Artist-Scanlouz Deleon

Born in Merced, California Scanlouz Deleon was raised by his mother, who has a love

for music, and his grandmother, who fed his spirituality through attending church and

joining the choir. Being the second of three, Deleon learned at a young age to make his

presence known. Acting in plays and studying his mother’s natural talent to replicate

anything on a beat gave Scanlouz the groundwork for his musical career.

Scanlouz grew up in a small town in Central California where the sun does not shine

quite as bright. The Northside of Merced is where Deleon learned some of life’s

greatest and hardest lessons. Although Deleon enjoyed hanging out with friends,

menacing the neighborhood, he always stayed true for his love of music. At a very

young age he was exposed to musical geniuses such as The Stylistics and Tupac

Shakur. As he got older he began studying and gaining inspirations from Snoop Dogg,

Nas, DMX, Fabolous, Scarface, Outcast; true Hip Hop legends.

One day while hanging out his two favorite pastimes collided.

That same year Scanlouz purchased a karaoke machine and he and his friends held

cypher after cypher until he was called inside. It was to Nelly’s “Hot in Here” that

Deleon wrote his ?rst o?cial verse. “After that, it was a wrap.
