The Illinois Public Accounting Act states that certain information given to accountant shall be privileged and the accountant will not be required to divulge that information in response to a subpoena or other lawful process. However, much of the information that is provided to your accountant is not confidential; meaning that the accountant will be required to respond with certain information you provided to the accountant in response to a subpoena or other lawful documents requesting the information.
