God gave Moses and the Israelites very specific instructions concerning offerings (collections) and the furniture (contents): things like the ark, the table, and the lampstand for the sanctuary. He showed Moses the pattern and told him to tell the people that all the furnishings in the sanctuary were to be like the plans that He revealed to Moses. Moses was to collect offerings from the people who had a desire to give to the Lord.

We continue our study of the Tabernacle of Moses:

  • Galation 3:24
  • Matthew 5:17, 18
  • 1 Peter 1:11
  • Psalms 29:9

The Tabernacle was a portable tent that consisted of three (3) parts:

  1. The Outer Court (entrance was on the east)
  2. The Altar of Sacrifice (faced the east)
  3. The Tabernacle itself was located at the west part of the court and was divided (by a veil) into two chambers:
    1. The first chamber was called the Holy Place, it contained the Table, Lampstand, and Altar of Incense. Only priest were allowed in this section.
    2. The second chamber was called the Holy of Holies. it contained the Ark of the Covenant.  Only the High Priest was allowed in this section.

Everyting in the tabernacle was portable so that when the cloud of glory (sh' chinah) moved they could move (follow). See Exodus 13:21,22
