Therefore, if perfection were through the Levitical priesthood (for under it the people received the law), what further need was there that another priest should rise according to the order of Melchizedek, and not be called according to the order of Aaron?
- Hebrews 7:11

1. The Levitcal priesthood never made anything perfect (completion or consummation).

a.  If perfection were through the Levitical priesthood:  This shows the needs for a different order of priesthood.  If perfection, or completion, could come through the Levitical priesthood, there would be need for another priesthood.

b.  Under it the people received the law:  The Old Testament priesthood is the priesthood associated with the Law of Moses.  The priesthood of Melchizedek is associated with Abraham (not Moses).
