Broadcaster Fred Hickman has passed away at the age of 66. Hickman was best known as the original co-host of the CNN show "Sports Tonight" with Nick Charles. Aside from his work with CNN, Hickman also worked for TBS (Turner Broadcasting System), ESPN, YES Network, FOX Sports South (covering Atlanta Braves baseball), WVUE-TV (FOX affiliate in New Orleans), WVLA-TV (NBC affiliate in Baton Rouge, Louisiana), WDVM-TV in Hagerstown, Maryland and most recently served as anchor & managing editor for the evening newscast of the now-defunct Black News Channel. In 1989 and 1993, Hickman won the prestigious CableACE awards and in 2004 he would receive a New York Sports Emmy Award. Hickman was a native of Springfield, Illinois and is survived by his wife Sheila.
