Detroit Lions- 19
Dallas Cowboys- 20
With :23 seconds left in the game, the Lions cut the lead to one when quarterback Jared Goff threw a touchdown pass to wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown. The two-point conversion attempt was good when Goff completed a pass to offensive lineman Taylor Decker. However, referee Brad Allen called an illegal touch penalty on the Lions and ruled Decker ineligible. Teammates Jared Goff, Penei Sewell and Dan Skipper confirmed in post-game interviews that Decker did report as eligible to the official. In addition, television replays showed Decker attempting to report as eligible, while the referee does not pay attention to Decker and focuses more on offensive lineman Dan Skipper entering the game. Meanwhile, the Lions had one last chance to win the game, but Goff's pass was incomplete to tight end James Mitchell. The Cowboys would win 20 to 19.
