As the Summer Olympics in Paris come to an end, we had a chance to celebrate amazing athletes accomplishing extraordinary feats. Not only did we have a chance to take in the Olympic spirit, but we also had a chance to take in the cuisine from France. To put a sweet end to the Olympic games, make sure you get an éclair. An éclair is a pastry made with choux dough filled with cream such as custard, rum-flavored custard, pistachio, whipped cream, fruit-flavor, chestnut puree and topped with a flavored icing such as caramel. Although high in calories, fat, and sugar, the dessert does provide some health benefits. It is high in vitamins D, A, E, C, B6, and B12. In addition, the dessert is rich in pantothenic acid, folate, calcium, iron, potassium and saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fatty acids. So, to close out the Olympics on a sweet note have yourself a delectable éclair.
