My son has always had behavioral problems growing up.  As a mother we have unique intuitions.  I felt that he had been sexually assaulted but couldn't prove it.

I had been sexually assaulted as a child by my brother and never shared it with anyone til I was in my mid 20's.

My son as a child was verbally and slightly physically abused by his dad. I had him arrested when Zach was 2 and we worked through the system on their relationship but still Zach was hard to handle with his outburts.

As Zach got older he continue to be socially awkward and behind in his social skill set even through high school.

During the year prior to jail time. I had him forensically evaluated to understand his thinking and mindset.  What came out of it was a barrier... Zach had been sexually assaulted by brother. Not one blow to us but now a second one.

Zach started counseling immediately for the year every week.  He continues in prison to go to counseling, take mental health classes, and college course as well as work half days.

As a mom, I grieved and hard.  It has taken 1.5 / 2 years to fully understand and work through the pain, the loss, the future, the present, and make the necessary separations in relationships.

It has brought out anger, sadness, grief, mourning, compassion, empathy, and reality for others.  It has enlightened me to the needs in society. We need each other.  My son has completed 1 yr 3 mos and has 2 yrs 9 mos left to complete in prison.
