Karen Warner Schueler became a sudden caregiver when her late husband, Joel Kurtzman, was diagnosed out of the blue with Stage IV cancer. In her book, The Sudden Caregiver, A Roadmap for Resilient Caregiving, she draws upon her own experience, the experience of other caregivers, and research from the field of Positive Psychology to offer the informal, unpaid, sudden, caregiver, a roadmap, a path to resilience, and a rational approach to planning what is, essentially, unplannable.
As an executive coach and President of her coaching firm, Tangible Group, she designs and delivers premiere leadership experiences for individuals, teams, and multinational corporations. She received her Master’s degree in Applied Positive Psychology from the University of Pennsylvania. She lives in Beaufort, South Carolina with her husband, John; and Fenway, the world’s most empathetic dog. She is currently launching a series of learning modules for caregiver resilience. The Sudden Caregiver is her first book.
