Deepertruth: The Virgin Mary Appears in Italy to promote building Churches

Around the world, there are many Marian shrines and churches built in honor of Our Lady. Many of them specifically at her request. One of the more unique Marian shrines in the world is known as the Sanctuary of Montallegro (Rapallo).  It was built in celebration commemorating the Blessed Virgin Mary’s apparitions to a local farmer, Giovanni Chichizola on July 2, 1557.

Originally, what was once called the “Mountain of Death” (Montis Laeti), by the people of Rapallo, today is known as the “Mountain of Gaiety” (Montallegro) which was based on the crest.  Interestingly, as God can change the heart of a person He can also change the place where he lives.

In Heaven we can see the angels singing and playing harps before God and His throne.  A couple of these angels were also present helping the Blessed Virgin Mary as she appeared to Mr. Chichizola.

Why would the Blessed Virgin Mary appear to a peasant farmer in the middle of a field? We serve a Great God! Sometimes the Glory of God is made manifest through the things made by His people. The Virgin Mary showed a picture to Mr. Chichizola that depicted her passing from this life to eternal life. In Jerusalem, there is a scene in a church called the “Domition” meaning the passing.
