Harris Makes It Happen for Fresno:  Police Accountability and Public Safety

Work with city and county officials, and the people of Fresno to redefine what “tough on crime” looks like starting with retraining of how law enforcement is expected to protect and serve the people.  Requiring officers to be bonded and insured so the taxpayers of Fresno are not paying for lawsuits and settlements related to the actions of violent and corrupt officers. Implement a public health and safety initiative that would not be reliant on hiring more police, but would instead focus on allocating money to invest in the future of our youth by providing paid job training, prevention programs created throughout the communities in collaboration with our schools and youth-serving organizations. Approving money for Intervention programs like Advance Peace proposed by a father (and backed by Faith in the Valley along with many residents) whose children’s lives were taken by gun violence.
