When our loved ones are incarcerated who all is serving time with them? There is data that shows Blacks are locked up at disproportionately higher rates than any other race. Some because they've committed a crime, too many serving sentences where the crime is grossly disproportionate to the punishement, and all too often the innocent being locked up due to lack of having resources to pay for defense. In a lot of cases even when evidence to prove their innocence is presented, it does not shield them from becoming prey to a prison system that is the plantation for modern day slavery. However, there is another side to serving time not explored as much...the family members of the incarcerated. Join tonight's Dr. Harris Black Lives Matter Show, with host Maria Else, and co-host Aline Reed. Tonight's show will explore how incarceration affects the entire family. Special guest call-in speakers will be James Bell of the Burns Institute, Christina Yee of California Youth Outreach, special youth guest and one of the founding Fresno Freedom School students Davon Standifer, the show's founder Floyd D. Harris Jr will also check in tonight. If you would like to call in to the show please dial (516) 387-1474, or click on the shows link to listen online.
