Let’s say her name, Breonna Taylor! When thinking of police brutality what names come to mind? How many of the names you thought of were women? Rates of racial disparities in stops of Black women are nearly the same as that of Black men, but we often do not see the same level of outrage for them that we see for men who are brutalized, and murdered at the hands of law enforcement for minor, to no infractions at all. Sleeping while being a Black woman, driving while being a Black woman, grilling food while being a Black woman are just a few of the circumstances that have led to the mistreatment, and tragic deaths of women of color. Tonight’s show will be dedicated to uncovering, and exploring these stories, and how they fit into the heart of remembering Black Women Lives Matter Too! Guests joining the show will be Dr. Sheera Harrell, Fresno State NAACP Political Action Chair Denise Rogers-Heydt, and Fresno State NAACP Press and Publicity Chair Serenity White-Llole. Join host Maria Else, and co-host Aline Reed by calling in to listen 1 (516) 387-1474, or listen online by clicking the show’s link. Check out the videos below for background on tonight’s show.
