In the Old Testament dispensation, God revealed Himself in His Holy Temple. In the New Testament dispensation while Jesus was on the earth, He revealed Himself in His Holy Son. In the present Holy Spirit dispensation, which began with the day of Pentecost, God exposes Himself in His holy people, by the Person of the Ghost.
In the Old Dispensation, God presented Himself in Holy Places, made holy by His presence. In the days of Jesus on earth, He presented Himself through His precious and glorious Son. As the author says, “The power of God in Jesus in His body . . . whoever He touched or whatever touched Him in faith was made whole. As Jesus promised through the gift of the Holy Spirit, His spirit-filled holy people would do the works He did and even greater works. (Jn. 14:12). “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.”
At Pentecost, this was fulfilled. There were one hundred and twenty holy men and women, filled with God as the Holy Spirit, and also filled with the glorious Jesus. They did the works that He did. And He longs to fill all who will receive and wisely and lovingly the use the Gift. He went into glory both to receive and to give. “Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear,” (Acts 2:33).
“(But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified),” (Jn. 7:39).
