The first point is what the Word calls “the flesh, or the ‘old man.” The old man that part of the person that is the carnal nature of the person’s flesh and it is the rebellious person’s will that is being influenced and tempted by Satan.

“Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin,” Rom. 6:6.
