Author Niki Naseer, author of Golden Bangles Hidden Tears, paints a haunting picture of a young Pakistani girl’s life. It chronicles her journey from Burma to Pakistan and ends in the US. From a young age, Naseer rebelled against the chains of religious and cultural rigidity. She had witnessed the wretched fate of her two elder sisters. The husband of one of these sisters stole her two young daughters and placed them far beyond her reach. Naseer often wished she had been born a boy. It is a remarkable testimony of a tormented but optimistic young woman's unbreakable spirit and tremendous courage to become an outspoken defender of women rights.
