How can you NOT laugh at a time like this? That’s what award-winning singer-song writer and humorist, Carla Ulbrich said when a life-threatening illness caused her kidneys to fail, hair to fall out, and feet to swell up where her only pair of shoes were giant poofy slippers. Although this is no laughing matter, she realized the best way for her to cope with such time was through some serious comedy.
As part of her recovery from Lupus, she wrote humorous medical songs like “On The Commode Again” (to the tune of Willie Nelson’s “On The Road Again”) and “I Got Tremors” (to the tune of Louis Armstrong’s “I Got Rhythm”). She’s performed for organizations such as the Lupus Foundation, Medicaid and Nursing in Practice.
