The Unpardonable Sin, Chapter 8, part 1 of Judas Iscariot by Ogden Kraut.
Pages 72-85
Cursed be the man whose heart departeth from the Lord. For he shall be like the heathen in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited. (Jer. 17:5)
Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous. (Psalms 69:28)
God understands the struggle between the light and darkness that war upon men’s souls, but He allows them to choose and act according to their own will so that their true character will be revealed. Man should not be forced to love either truth or error. The choice must be his own. In the character of Judas, we must assume that there were good qualities that could have been a great asset to the cause of the Gospel. It is inconceivable that Judas became a disciple determined with deliberate intent to betray the Christ. It was the gradual increase of sins that finally brought him to his conspiracy against Christ.
