There is a continual outpouring of hatred, violent religious bigotry, oppression of women, killing of homosexuals, persecution of Christians and Jews, and mass murder raging in the Moslem world, all being committed by religious Moslems in the name of Islam and quoting the Islamic sacred texts in justification. The Moslem world, by the way, includes not only the Moslem-majority countries, but also the Moslem-minority communities in America, Europe and elsewhere. In order to deal effectively with the threat, we need to understand why this is happening and what we can do about it.
This week (Friday, January 22) we will start by briefly reviewing some of the events from the world of Islam and relating them to the sacred texts of Islam.
Then, we will discuss the notion of human rights in Islam based on the Cairo Declaration of Human Rights in Islam and Sharia law.
We will also discuss some actions which you can take to help counter the Islamic threat.
