Back in 2009, President Obama gave his speech to the Muslim world in Cairo, and in it he said: “Islam has always been a part of America’s story. The truth is that America and Islam are not exclusive. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.”
What were these "common principles" of justice which we Americans supposedly share with Islam? Remember, "justice" is a system of rewards and punishments based on law. American justice is based on American law, whereas Islamic justice is based on Sharia law. Is Obama saying that American law and Sharia law are basically the same?
Let us see what the Islamic sources have to say about this. For Islamic source material, we will be using "Reliance of the Traveller -- A Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law" which was approved as a guide for Sunni Muslims today by the highest Islamic religious authorities of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Jordan, Egypt and America.
This episode will explore:
"Spoils of battle",
"Non-Muslim Subjects of the Islamic State",
"Penalty for fornication or sodomy", "
Accusing a person of adultery without proof",
"Penalty for theft",
"Penalty for drinking unlawful beverages",
Whatever we do not finish this week, we will deal with next week.
