The last few weeks we have been addressing the evidence for the crucifixion of Jesus on a cross. Islam denies this so we have been desperately trying to locate any evidence that somehow might contradict the mountains of evidence that clearly demonstrate that He did die on a cross.
We have had the privilege of having an Imam address this obvious problem. However, the Imam has only provided references to early Christian sects that either Jesus didn’t have a body to crucify, a forgery from the middle ages, and last week a “shotgun” blast of early gnostic writings that were written down over a century later and don’t clarify anything other than they were heretical. I plan to firs address each of the texts he cited and then move on to other insertions we find in the Quran.
This week we are going to drill down further on other passages Muhammad “received” from Allah. These passages and stories include know Jewish commentaries, gnostic writings, and Syriac folklore – yet, Muhammad claimed they were revealed to him by Allah. We will juxtapose each of the texts next to each other so you can clearly see the correlations between the two. Then, we will start asking the logical questions – if we know these passages were written down centuries before Muhammad lived, how can they therefore be revelations from Allah to Muhammad? What makes better sense; A. Muhammad had heard these passages and tried to pass them off as inspired scripture or B. Allah had previously inspired all kinds of people to write the same thing down centuries before and fail to mention that they were divinely inspired?
If you are interested in where the origins of the Quran truly came from you will tune into this week’s show.
Shalom - Eric
