The Real Interfaith Dialogue

The Five Pillars of Islam. 

Sunday we will be discussing the five pillars of Islam.  What are they?  What are their origins?  How are they applied today?  Each of the panel members will b e explaining one pillar and then entertaining any questions concerning the pillar itself.  For example, part of the Hajj is “He approaches the Black Stone, touches it with his right hand and kisses it. If this isn't possible, he should face the Black Stone and point to it.” (https://www.princeton.edu/~humcomp/hajjguide.html)  Why is this part of the Hajj?  What are its origins?  How is this practiced today?   We would really love to hear from Muslims why it is a requirement to kiss a rock in the middle of the Arabian desert!
