Kyle Abts is codirector of the International Committee on Nigeria (ICON), which recently helped organize the Ad Hoc Committee to Free the Slaves of Nigeria (CFSN), a group concerned with Nigerians enslaved by local jihadist groups like Boko Haram, now the Islamic State's West Africa affiliate. On April 8, CFSN demonstrated outside of Representative Ilhan Omar's offices in her Minneapolis, Minnesota, home district. CFSN called upon Omar as Vice-Chair of the U.S. Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa and Human Rights to use her influence to combat these jihadist human rights abuses. Abts will join show host Andrew E. Harrod to discuss the significance of current jihadist threats to Nigeria and what Omar and the rest of America should do about it.
